Dozens of adopted pit and those waiting to be adopted filled the Community Room of T.J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center, Springfield, Ma. on October 22, 2011.

The Center's Executive Director, Pam Peebles, and Volunteers provided refreshments, a hot-dog bobbing contest (for dogs) , educational exhibits and handouts. The displays showed the history of Pit, American Staffordshire Terriers and their past and present day contributions that they have had in our lives. "HENRY MEMORIAL REBATE PROGRAM"

Henry, the pitbull was found on the streets of Springfield, Ma. approximately 10 years ago. This brindle pit was taken in by the owner of a business on Bridge St in Springfield. After being fostered for a short time he was welcomed into a loving home in Wakefield, Rhode Island. At first it was a challenging several months with Henry's antics providing both comic relief and damage to the beautiful gardens outside his adopted parents' home. His clown-like antics, including burrowing under the covers at night, won the hearts of his family.

After his recent passing and in appreciation of the breed, his family and The Dog Adoption Network have established a rebate program at Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center in Springfield, MA.
